Brave Is Beautiful

As many of you know, I suffer from Lyme Disease. It’s an invisible illness, but it affects crucial organs and functions of the body such as the brain, heart, nervous system, muscles and joints. It attacks everyone differently, for me it’s mainly neurological, bone and muscle pain, and severe vertigo.

There are so many warriors out there battling with this illness daily, and for a long time I’ve wanted to raise awareness and encourage those who struggle with it, as well as other invisible monsters such as ALS, Fibromyalgia, Lupus and MS. You are strong, you’re not alone in this fight, you’re brave and you can do this. I know what it’s like, and I see you.

A while ago, I started up a campaign called Brave is Beautiful, where every month we here at JM would put together a care package for someone with an invisible illness. The packages are filled with golden pretties and feel good gifts to bring a little bit of joy to a day that might be really tough. This cause is near and dear to my heart as I’ve been in the thick of this fight for 13 years now. When I was very sick and dealing with a bad flare I received a little gift from a stranger, and though it was a very small kindness it made my spirit soar. I want to spread the love I felt when I received it, if anything just to remind those out there in this battle that they’re known.

It’s been a busy year, but we are now ready to accept another round of nominees and get the ball back up and rolling. If you or someone you love is suffering from an invisible illness, I will be attaching instructions on how to nominate yourself or said friend/family member and what information to include so that we can get those care packages out to them!

Thank you all for your constant support during the good and the bad, I’m so lucky to have you. Brave is beautiful, and you are very brave.

All my love, Jamie. XOXO.
