NORTH SHORE
THE MAGIC OF DRIVING THE ROAD TO KA'ENA POINT O'AHU

A lot of people have visions of surfing, snorkleing and swimming when a Hawaiin trip is mentioned, but we challenge you to reframe the narrative and add hiking into the mix. A favorite spot for locals and tourists alike is Ka'ena Point Trail, which is only accessible by hiking the trailhead at the end of Farrington Highway. If you're feeling adventurous, pack up plenty of water, sunscreen and plan for this moderate 2-3 hour excursion along the dramatic coastline to a white sand beach. Go at your own pace and look for albatross and seals that make the point their home. Pro tip: Start out early in the morning and you'll get some shade from the mountains. Get there after noon and the trail will be completely sunlit with no shade, which really is just like spending a day at the beach. So still a good day.
