HOT TAKE: SUNRISES IN HAWAII ARE BETTER THAN SUNSETS
To see some of the most picturesque blue water and take in the lush green forestry that Hawaii is known for, drive on Farrington Highway toward Ka'ena Point, preferably at dawn. Hear us out. We love a good slow morning at home, but watching the sunlight move the ocean from watercolor pastels to celebratory blues is something not to be missed. Between Mokulē‘ia Army Beach and Hawaiian Monk Seal Beach there are several areas to park that have beach access right off the road. We love it because this area is further away from town so it's often less crowded and more secluded. Come early between six and eight in the morning and you'll likely have the place all to yourself. The scenery and solitude make simply sitting in front of the ocean and listening to the waves a magical experience. To make it even more perfect, chances are high that you'll spot sea turtles, dolphins, seals or all three!
