If you're unsure which length to order, here's a simple method to help you find the perfect length:
- Use a String: Take a piece of string or a thin strip of paper and wrap it around your neck, holding it at the spot where you want the necklace to sit.
- Measure the String: Once you've found the right spot, remove the string and measure it using a ruler or tape measure. This measurement will give you an indication of the length to order.

How long does production take?
PLEASE NOTE: Production and shipping times may be delayed during and after our Sitewide Sales.
General Policy:
Orders begin processing immediately. Orders without a Personalized or Fine/Demi-Fine item ship within 3 business days. Orders with a Personalized or Fine/Demi-Fine item take up to 7 business days to ship.
Orders containing pre-order items will be held and shipped in full once the pre-order becomes available.
Please note: We do our best to ship orders out as quickly as possible and begin working on them right away. Because of this, we're not able to make changes once an order is placed — including edits to items or shipping addresses.
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
PLEASE NOTE: Production and shipping times may be delayed during and after our Sitewide Sales.
Made-to-order items are crafted by hand and may ship separately from other items in your order. If your order ships in multiple packages, you'll receive separate tracking information for each shipment.
Once production is complete, orders ship via USPS with an estimated delivery time of 3-5 business days. Expedited options, including UPS 2-Day and UPS Overnight, are also available. For Fine/Demi-Fine jewelry, the 7 business day production time still applies before items can be shipped with expedited service. Orders containing pre-order items will be held and shipped in full once the pre-order becomes available.
Is there a warranty?
All jewelry excluding Fine and Demi-Fine includes a one-year warranty covering material and workmanship defects, along with a lifetime color warranty.
Our Fine and Demi-Fine jewelry includes a lifetime warranty, including lifetime color coverage, with repair or replacement for material or workmanship issues.
The lifetime warranty remains in effect for as long as the original purchaser owns the piece.
All warranties exclude lost items, normal wear and tear, and damage from improper use or storage.
Please note: warranty policies are void if jewelry is taken to another jeweler for repairs or modifications. This includes resizing or any other work performed outside of James Michelle.
Our warranty is designed to take care of your jewelry through repair or replacement, and does not cover incidental or consequential damages. In some cases, shipping costs associated with warranty services may apply.

What are your holiday shipping deadlines and gift return policy?
Holiday 2026 order cutoffs (to receive by December 23)
- December 8: Last day to order Fine & Demi-Fine jewelry
- December 11: Last day to order Personalized/Engraved jewelry
- December 16: Last day for USPS Standard Shipping on all jewelry (excludes Fine & Personalized). Order before 2pm PT.
- December 19: Last day for UPS 2-Day (excludes Fine & Personalized). Order before 2pm PT.
Extended Holiday Return Policy Purchases made October 21 through December 25, 2026 qualify for:
- Refunds: Within 14 days of delivery.
- Store Credit: Through January 31, 2027.
- Exchanges: Through January 31, 2027.
What is the return and exchange policy?
We offer returns on eligible items for a refund, exchange, or store credit. Returns for a refund to the original payment method must be initiated within 14 days of delivery, while returns for an exchange or store credit must be initiated within 30 days of delivery.
All returned items must be clean, unworn, and free from signs of wear or damage. Refunds are issued to your original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days after we receive and inspect your return.
A $6 return/exchange fee will apply when your return is processed.
Important: All returns and exchanges must be initiated through our Returns & Exchanges Portal. James Michelle is not responsible for returns sent outside of our official returns portal.e.
